Caimber is powered by extensive experience in education and technology
Developed through years of research, Caimber is leading the AI evolution of science-based literacy assessment and practice. Caimber (formerly Analytic Measures, Inc.) develops literacy products using artificial intelligence, speech recognition, data analysis, and linguistics combined with current user experience research.
Combines screening, diagnostics, and progress monitoring in one product
Moby Plus is a fully automated, oral reading fluency (ORF) assessment that is easily self-administered by grade school students. The assessment conveniently combines screening, diagnostics, and progress monitoring all into one product.
Developed over two decades with awards from the U.S. Dept. of Education
The core of Moby Plus started as the Moby Read product, and was developed over two decades with The Institute of Education Sciences (IES) funding from the U.S. Department of Education.
Beginning in 2002, AMI designed several early prototypes to be used as a part of the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) and other national assessments administered by IES's National Center for Education Statistics (NCES).
In 2016 and 2017, the IES Small Business Innovation Research program (ED/IES SBIR) funded AMI to develop and test the product in schools at scale. Additional diagnostic tools and activities were developed using funding from ED/IES SBIR grants awarded in 2020 and 2021. These resources provide educators with detailed feedback to guide their instruction.
Validated with leading educational organizations
Over the past 20 years, the assessment has been validated through research conducted at key milestones in collaboration with leading educational organizations, including Educational Testing Service (ETS), American Institutes for Research (AIR), and WestEd.
